Privacy and cookies

This notice explains what we collect when you use find.co.zw, why, who sees it and how long we keep it. We follow the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07].

Who is responsible

In this notice, “we” and “us” mean the team behind find.co.zw. Contact us about your information through our contact form.

What we collect and why

• When you post an ad: your name or business name, mobile number, email address, the ad’s words and photos, and the town and area. We use them to publish the ad, to let buyers reach you, and to send you the private link to manage it.
• When you message a seller: your name, email address, optional phone number and message. We pass them to the seller by email so they can reply to you. We don’t keep a copy of the message.
• When you report an ad or contact us: what you write, and your email address if you give it, so we can act and reply.
• When you set up an email alert: your email address and what to look out for, so we can email you new matching ads.
• Technical details: a scrambled code made from your internet address, kept for a short time to stop spam and limit abuse.

What other people see

• Your ad, your name or business name, the town and area, and the photos are public.
• Your mobile number is shown to a buyer only when they tap “Show number” or “WhatsApp”. It is never written into the page itself.
• Your email address is never shown. Buyers’ messages reach you by email, and they only see your address if you reply.

Photos

Before photos are saved, they are re-saved without the hidden camera details phones add, such as the location where the photo was taken.

How long we keep it

• When you remove an ad, it goes to our bin and is deleted for good, with its photos, within 30 days.
• Ads that end and aren’t renewed are hidden from the site and deleted 12 months after they end.
• Reports and messages to us are kept for as long as we need them to deal with the matter.
• Email alerts last until you stop them with the link in any alert email. Alerts that are never confirmed are deleted after 7 days.

Cookies and your device

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and the site loads no outside tracking scripts. Ads you save with the heart are kept in your browser on your device, not on our servers. Staff who sign in to manage the site get a sign-in cookie.

Where it is stored

The site is hosted by a web hosting company whose servers are outside Zimbabwe. Emails are sent through the same hosting service.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Contact us through our contact form. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to POTRAZ, the Data Protection Authority in Zimbabwe.
