How do I buy safely from a private seller?
Meet in a busy public place in daylight, check that the item works, and pay when you collect it. Don't pay a deposit to hold an item you haven't seen, and keep your messages on the site so there is a record.
How do I check a second-hand phone?
Dial *#06# to show the phone's IMEI number and check that it matches the box and the phone's settings. Make sure the seller has signed out of their Apple or Google account and reset the phone, and ask for the original receipt if there is one.
Which currencies can I pay in?
US dollars are the most common currency for private sales, but ZiG, EcoCash and bank transfers are also used. Agree the currency and the exact amount before you meet, and ask for a receipt for bigger items.
What size solar system do I need?
Add up the watts of everything you want to run at the same time: that sets the inverter size (in kVA or kW). Then work out how many hours it must run without sun: that sets the battery capacity (in kWh). Ask the seller for the inverter's rated output, the battery's usable capacity and the warranty in writing.
